Bus Driver Driver Risk Index™ Launch

February 13, 2007

DriverMetrics has today launched the world’s first psychometric risk assessment for bus companies. The Bus Driver Risk Index™ (BDRI) risk assessment for bus drivers, will help bus service providers to more accurately identify the specific training needs of individual drivers in order to reduce the potential for collisions.  Drivers undertake an online assessment for approximately 30 minutes. A personalised report is then generated. The BDRI reports identify which drivers are at risk, but also and most importantly it identifies particular high risk behaviours.

The assessment has been developed by the Driving Research Group at Cranfield University and is based on over 20 years of academic research into driver behaviour. The research investigated driver behaviour and driver training, collision involvement and attribution, and the identification of driving-related stressors.

Dr Lisa Dorn, Research Director of DriverMetrics said “Following the success of the Fleet Driver Risk Index in the UK, we are pleased to be able to make the BDRI widely available to UK and international bus companies”.

The BDRI was developed in collaboration with Arriva PLC enabling specific benchmarks for driver behaviour to be established.
